In the early 17th century the Dutch made a killing importing "genggang" from Malaysia. Back then it was a striped cloth commonly worn in Southeast Asia. Today ginghams are found in most men's closets. It is as ubiquitous as it is easy to wear. We wanted to make ours are a bit special- to stand out. After weaving fine poplin yarns we gave these guys a nice "tea bath," with tints of a bygone era. We then sand washed them for a softer hand.
