"I first had the idea of this fit when I was exploring Japan and saw women farmers working the rice fields – something drew me in about their pants. High Rise, Wide leg. Easy to move in, but quite architectural too. So I spent the better part of last year designing the Stokes, a women’s jean That combined this kind of wide legged get-to-work functionality with a stylish high-waisted fit. I sent prototypes to various friends (artists/gardeners/artisan broom-makers, etc) And they LOVED them. We put them into production and I was jealous – so I designed a men’s version. That pair was the first Rowan. We made a small initial run in our Cone Mills OG denim and another in a gorgeous Japanese canvas. Two of the first pairs were snatched up by our photographers, Jerry and Shay. The fit is spot-on for the kind of get-up-kneel-down movement of a photoshoot. They photographed each other in their Rowans. The more I wear mine, the more I appreciate them. When I do 1/1, I increasingly find myself using this pattern.” -Victor
