We made the first Northfield Parka in 2013, and its more heavy-duty features have gotten us through many a blizzard, bomb cyclone, and polar vortex since. We equally appreciate its more everyday winter conveniences--the pockets are well-thought-out for easy and secure access to subway cards, dog treats, notebooks, all of your children's mittens. The shape is adjustable (via 2-way zipper and drawstring at the interior waist), which makes it multifunctional for different outfits and levels of winter cold.
If you are one of the many people who asked us to bring back the Northfield Parka, please note that we have made some improvements including pleating at the sleeve for adjustable layering roominess and a combination quilting/faux-shearling lining for maximum warmth and long-wearing comfort. We also redid the shape for a more contemporary roominess.
Fabric Description This High-density water-repellent cotton was first developed for equipment like buckets and military suits. Rather than depending on a wax or artificial coating to achieve water repellency, the inventors put all of their efforts into the weave the cotton, making it so dense that it would effectively not allow water through. We loved this idea, particularly because we think that coated/treated fabric often does not age well. Milled to highest quality in Japan, this is a fabric we are very excited to be sharing with you for the first time.
