The Battenwear Zip Trucker Jacket was built to look cool but tough, sort of like the laid-back older brother who can’t be bothered . . . until some punk threatens you and then he goes all silent and scary until no one every wants to mess with your family again. The fit is ultra-comfortable (thanks in part to the action pleats down the front, which allow for greater range of movement), the details are well thought through (can’t get enough of that two-way zipper front), and the look is retro-inspired but with a contemporary spin to keep it useful for everyday wear. In other words, it’s the Battenwear take on the classic American jean jacket.

We wanted to make an outfit to throw on after a swim and then hang out in for the rest of the day. So, we made our Lounge series, but now we wear them wherever we go, regardless of whether a pool is involved. 
Fabric Note: Brand-new and custom milled in Japan for Battenwear, this terry cloth has a rich, plush texture and a double-sided nap (meaning that the towel-like texture is on the inside and outside of the fabric) It's slightly thicker than the terry we have used in the past for Beach Tees and Lounge items, but has a lighter weight feeling due to the airiness of the weave. It's absolutely perfect for hot days, and we can't wait to spend all summer in it.

These shorts are excellent for all sorts of everyday activity. The 4-way stretch and crotch gusset make them comfortable for movement, and with the zippered pockets, you don’t have to worry about your belongings falling out. Basically, we find that if pants meet the qualification to perform on a rock face, then they are going to be supremely comfortable and handy for less demanding use. In addition, with their straight, streamlined shape, these shorts look stylish for everyday wear and can easily be combined with more formal tops for city outings.
Fabric Notes: Solotex® Stretch is one of the higher tech fabrics we’ve used at Battenwear. It has a 4-way stretch which accommodates athletic movement, and the material's superb softness (due to the springy, helical-molecular structure of the material) makes it perfect for all-day wear. Solotex also retains its shape so as not to become stretched out or baggy in high use areas.

CRT Jeans is a brand out of Japan that we admire. CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube, a reference to a bygone era in the technological progression leading to contemporary viewing screens. CRT Jeans are made for people who dream in analog and are fascinated by early manmade fixes for scientific challenges. CRT is for people who find joy in all things from the 1970s particularly the innovations occurring with design and sportswear.
Both of the corduroy jeans that Battenwear made for this first project with CRT (bootcut and straight) are based on CRT’s “dinner jeans” model. As most know, denim jeans started out as a worker’s uniform. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, a movement arose in Japan to popularize jeans for more formal wear. Up sprang the “dinner jean,” or a sophisticated and tailored pair of jeans that could be worn out on dinner & disco nights. We particularly love the slacks crease on these pants, and we can’t wait to dress them up and down for dinner out on town all around the world.
Fabric Description  For the exclusive Battenwear x CRT project, we found a cotton/poly blend stretch corduroy almost identical to the one used by Levi’s in the 1970s.

Like our Batten-Down Parka, our Batten-Down Vest is made at a military-grade factory in Japan using excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Although inspired by classic college football windbreakers, the Beach Breaker was actually made in honor of intrepid East Coast surfers. For those who don't know: the only kind of surf we have near NYC comes from beach breaks, which means we spend a lot of early mornings standing on the cold sand, staring out at the horizon, and waiting for the wind to bring the waves in just right . . . before we commit to the wetsuit. The Battenwear Beach Breaker is the perfect standing-on-the-beach, staring-longingly jacket. It does not hurt that, while standing there, you kind of look like an old-school, bad-ass football coach.
Fabric note: We love this water repellent taslan nylon. Taslan is known for being quick-drying and having as soft a hand feel as cotton. This particular taslan also has a finely crinkled texture which prevents cling and makes it well suited for hot days.

This anorak was made for those who would never let a bit of weather get in the way of hiking, fishing, hunting, or campground rabble rousing. First released in 2014, the Scout Anorak became a standard bearer for Battenwear, exemplifying our mission to make functional outdoor and sports gear that also happens to look great for everyday city wear.
Handy details include the multiple storage pockets on front and the extra deep, double zip on the sides for ease getting in and out of the anorak (also for ventilation). Please keep in mind that this item was built to be roomy so that it can be a top layer.
